Crystal Cudworth is an interdisciplinary artist who focuses on the medium of oil painting. She was raised in Pompano Beach, Florida and moved to rural Wisconsin at age 10. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in painting with minors in writing and photography and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston where also participated in the Gender and Women's Studies Consortium held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
She has investigated the decline of the fishing industry in the United States along the east coast. Her parents were deep sea, long-lining fishers and this has inspired her to pursue painting on boats and to interview fisher people about their livelihoods as effected by the changing economy.
